I’m Connor Gallagher, the creator of Betting Angles.
If you want to make your betting pay but don’t know where to start, this page is for you.
Here at Betting Angles, we harness the power of statistical analysis to develop betting systems and strategies that win.
My belief in helping you make your betting pay is simple: to always be honest and transparent, lead by example and share what works.
That’s what I’m all about, and that’s what Betting Angles is all about!
The Betting Angles Philosophy:
Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.
I started Betting Angles because I’m passionate about helping punters like you make your betting pay.
My belief is that knowledge is power. Therefore, my aim with everything that I do here at Betting Angles is to give you as much of an insight into my methods as I possibly can.
That’s why I’m going to start by teaching you the ins and out of analysing a race. I’ll show you how to interpret form, determine how a race is likely to be run, identify a horse’s optimum conditions and harness the power of statistics to quickly narrow down the field of any race to a shortlist of “live” contenders.
Then, I’m going to educate you as to the various draw and pace biases that exist at certain racecourses, and help you build a portfolio of winning betting systems and strategies so you can enjoy the freedom that comes with being able to earn a living from betting.
I’ll also be delving deep into the psychological aspect of betting for a living — giving you the lowdown on things like money management, staking and the importance of keeping records — so you can make smarter, more informed decisions and begin treating your betting as a business.
On top of that, I’ll be reviewing some of the most popular betting systems and tipping services on the market in an attempt to unearth the select few that can actually make you money while exposing the scams and rip-offs that plague our community.
I’m leaving no stone unturned on my quest to educate an army of punters who are smarter and more informed than ever before, and I sincerely hope you’ll join me for the journey!
Here’s what betting for a living is NOT…
Let’s dispel some myths and set realistic expectations before we go any further.
1. Betting for a living is NOT easy and it takes a lot of work.
Nothing in life comes easy. Betting for a living is no different.
There are many people who’ll try to persuade you to think otherwise. Why? Because they’re trying to make money from false hopes.
I’m here to tell you the truth: that betting for a living is hard.
It took me many years of hard work before I generated enough from my betting to support my family. There was nothing easy about what I had to do to get there.
I’ll do my best to guide you and give you the information you need, but I can’t force you to take action. That’s up to you.
2. Betting for a living is NOT just about picking winners.
I realise that may sound strange, but winners are only half the equation when it comes to making your betting pay.In fact, backing too many winners of the wrong sort will actually lose you money.
If it were just a question of picking winners then betting for a living would be easy. You’d simply back favourites. Favourites win around 40% of the time, which is as good a strike rate as anybody can expect to achieve. But backing favourites doesn’t lead to profit.
Sure, when you back favourites, you back plenty of winners. But the short prices make it impossible to generate long-term profits. Yes, backing favourites means you experience the joy of winning more often than most punters, but those winners do not translate into profit.
In order to earn long-term profits from betting on horse racing, you need to be backing sufficient winners at sufficiently good prices. Betting for a living is not just about finding winners. It’s about finding winners at value prices, and that requires skill.
3. Betting for a living is NOT impossible.
Until a few years ago, betting for a living was just a dream for me. With no other options, I bet on myself by trying to make my dream a reality.
After years of trying to educate myself, by reading books, analysing data and doing everything in my power to learn as much about horse racing as I possibly could, I finally discovered through trial and error how to make my betting pay and generate consistent profits — much to the dismay of my sceptical friends and family.
I can honestly say that I love what I do. I thoroughly enjoy the puzzle and ongoing challenge that betting for a living represents, due in no small part to the fact that I am financially secure, able to stay at home with my family, wake up when I want and make my own decisions.
That lifestyle is possible, and I want you to experience it too!
Proform: The horse racing software I use every day.
In order to succeed as a bettor, you need to find a way to gain an edge.
Nowadays, it goes without saying that if you are relying on information gleamed from the mainstream media to help you gain that edge, you’re going to struggle.
Proform has been my preferred weapon of choice for a while now and is an essential tool for anyone wanting to take their betting seriously. It will save you an awful lot of time and help you to uncover profitable betting angles that you simply would never have found elsewhere.
The Proform database provides a wealth of horse racing statistics dating all the way back to 1998, while the system builder allows you to query this data from various different angles at the click of a button. This makes building your own betting systems an absolute doddle!
The horse watcher tool enables you to store notes about a horse’s past performances and automatically notifies you whenever one of the horses you have notes saved for is declared to run, ensuring you never miss a winner.
Last, but most certainly not least, you have the in-running module, which helps you to identify trading opportunities and back-to-lay bets in an instant.
Granted, a license might not be as cheap as a subscription to the Racing Post website but the sheer depth of information that Proform provides, coupled with an unparalleled level of customer service, makes this software worth its weight in gold.
I appreciate you!
I’m here for you both as a friend and as a mentor. 🙂
Most importantly, I want Betting Angles to be an experience that we can both learn and grow from.
I respond to all emails personally and treat everyone equally. I’m always the first to admit that I’m not special, just a normal guy who loves what I do.
In everything I do here at Betting Angles, I truly want to help make the online betting community a better place and greatly value your feedback.
